A Not-So-Obvious Travel Packing List:
1. Chapstick
Carmex
Chapstick might seem trivial to some of you, but there is a reason that I made it #1. I have a slightly obsessive problem with chapstick. I mean, who likes dry lips when they are trying to enjoy life?
2. Small pillow
Foldable Pillow | Neck Pillow
I have a small pillow that I have had since I was a baby that I take everywhere. I consider is a necessity for several reasons. One is for extra comfort in the car, plane, train, etc. Another is because hotel pillows are usually super flat. Placing this over or under a hotel pillow gives me more cushion and lift, so my neck doesn’t hurt the next day.
3. Camera Accessories:
Selfie-stick | Go pro | Wrap Tripod
Of course, being a travel blogger, great pictures are a must for me! However, who doesn’t like having great pictures to share with family, friends, and followers? There are tons of different camera tools out there now-a-days. However, these are my favorite travel camera accessories because they can easily fit into a jacket pocket or purse.
Selfie Stick: You might joke about having or using a selfie stick. However, they really are a great invention and are really easy to use!
Wrap Phone Tripod: This is something I have been picturing in my head for a long time but I did not even know existed. This will wrap around something and hold your phone while you take a picture. You would just use self timer with this product.
GoPro: This is the cheapest, most basic GoPro option out there and the one that I own. It is very easy to use and takes great, wide spanned photos. This is best for when you want to get background scenery in a photo and/or in and under water.
4. Drugs | Vitamin C / Airborne / Ibuprofen |
Vitamin C: This is a new addition to my must have list. I have gotten sick after returning home from the last several trips I have been on. Therefore, I am making a conscious choice to be much more careful about germs and keeping myself well during travel in 2018.
Airborne: This comes from the same logic that I wrote about before. One could probably choose either Vitamin C or Airborne… but after being sick a lot recently and the crazy flu that is so prevalent right now, I am not taking any chances.
Ibuprofen: I have a bad headache problem anyway; however, who likes to feel bad on vacation? This is an easy thing to throw in a bag. Then, if and when you dod need it, you will be very glad! Pro Tip: I take Ibuprofen before bed almost every night while traveling, especially when drinking.
5. Extra phone chargers:
I don’t like to take my main home phone charger with me when I travel. What if I lose or leave it? Then I don’t even have a charger to use at home! I have a back-up charger that I use for traveling. Also, portable battery packs are super convenient when you are out and about all day! Who wants to be in the middle of a great experience and have no phone?
Portable Battery Charger: This is a pretty affordable, but durable portable battery charger. You do need a cord to use with it, which is why I linked the 6 inch cord below!
3ft iPhone cord: This is a super basic secondary iPhone charger. Again, I like having a separate cord that I use only for travel so that if I did lose it, I still have one at home.
Duel Charging Block: This charging block is great, especially if you have more than one thing that you are bringing along with you that needs charging. You could plug in an Apple Watch, selfie stick, go pro, etc. in addition to your phone.
6. Good hair moose:
No one likes a bad hair day during travel. However, I don’t always like to take the time to blow dry and style my hair either. Having good hair products that you can put on your wet hair is a great trick to having good hair on the go!
7. Tote bag / Backpack:
Having a personal bag is very important for a number of reasons. You want something bigger than a purse, but not as big as a suit case to use as a “carry all” bag. This is where you can keep your purse, sweater, travel documents, technology, and basically all of the other recommended items in this post! Also, if you are taking a beach vacation, I use this bag to double as a beach bag once I get there!
8. A universal sweater:
Cardigan: I always carry a light-weight sweater with me, no matter what the temperature is supposed to be! If it is supposed to be freezing, I will take a larger coat as well. You never know what the temperature of restaurants, planes, trains, airports, etc. will be! I can not stand to be cold!
9. Sunglasses:
Blenders Eyewear: Who likes having the sun in their eyes? I have found a new obsession with sunglasses. I treat them like jewelry, matching different styles to different outfits. However, even if you don’t go that far, everyone needs a good pair of sunnies! This company makes so many cute, affordable designs!
DIFF Eyewear: This is my other favorite eyewear brand! It is a little bit more expensive, but they donate a pair of glasses to someone in need with every purchase!
10. Set of travel make-up brushes:
Brush Set: One you start using great make-up brushes, you never go back. However, dragging along every one that you own might be too much. I have a special set of travel brushes that are smaller and more universal.
