WORD & WEEKDAYS
A life doesn’t have to be extraordinary to be worth writing about.
Hi, I’m Katie… a writer, photographer, business owner, wife, mom, and relentlessly curious person who has been sharing pieces of my life on the internet for a very long time.
Word & Weekdays is my independent corner of the internet for the things I’m living, learning, making, researching, questioning, and figuring out along the way.
You’ll find personal essays and Bible study next to recipes and home projects. Travel guides built from places I’ve actually been. Things I’ve made, bought, tried, thrifted, grown, cooked, photographed, researched, loved… and occasionally regretted. There are rabbit holes I fell into because one innocent question turned into seventeen browser tabs, and practical guides that exist because I figured something out and thought someone else might need the answer too.
Some of it is useful. Some of it is thoughtful. Some of it is probably a little weird.
All of it comes from a real life.
I spent years writing and photographing travel and everyday experiences before life took a pretty significant detour. I became a restaurant owner. Our family changed. My work changed. I changed.
For a while, I thought those years had interrupted the story.
Now I think they may have been part of it.
Word & Weekdays is where those years of stories, photographs, experiences and ideas meet the life I’m living now… and where I keep documenting whatever comes next.
Because I’m learning that a meaningful life doesn’t have to look impressive.
It just has to be lived.
WORDS
The things I need more than a caption to say.
Writing has always been the center of this place.
This is where you’ll find personal essays, thoughts on faith and life, Bible Word by Word studies, stories I’m still making sense of, and the occasional thought that started small and became several thousand words.
Sometimes I write because I know exactly what I want to say.
Sometimes I write to figure it out.

WEEKDAYS
Ordinary life is still life.
Home. Family. Food. Marriage. Motherhood. Gardens and grocery lists and systems that make our house function a little better. Things I’m trying, things I’m buying, things I’m cooking, and things that somehow became important enough to write about.
This is the everyday part of Word & Weekdays… because most of our lives aren’t vacations, milestones or highlight reels.
They’re Tuesdays.
And I think Tuesdays are worth paying attention to.
CREATE
I have always needed to make things.
Photography. Art. Writing. DIY projects. Content creation. Creative experiments. Occasionally an idea that sounded completely reasonable until there were supplies covering my entire dining room table.
Creating has followed me through almost every version of my life and work.
This is where I share what I’m making, how I’m making it, the tools I genuinely use, what I’m learning, and the creative process behind the finished thing.
No requirement that it become a business.
Sometimes making something is reason enough.
EXPLORE
Go somewhere. Look around. Pay attention.
Long before Word & Weekdays, I spent years traveling, photographing places, working with destinations and documenting what I found along the way.
That archive still lives here… and I’m still exploring.
You’ll find firsthand travel guides, small towns, weekend trips, restaurants, hotels, unusual experiences, places worth wandering around, and practical information for planning trips of your own.
Not written from a list of places the internet says you should visit.
Written from being there.

TIN FOIL TALKS
Come down the rabbit hole with me.
I am physically incapable of wondering about something a normal amount.
One question becomes ten. Ten becomes research. Research becomes screenshots, notes, browser tabs, books, podcasts and me explaining something to Dustin that he absolutely did not ask about.
Tin Foil Talks is where those rabbit holes go.
History, culture, strange stories, things the internet is arguing about, questions I can’t leave alone, and whatever else has me saying: “Okay, but hear me out…”
You don’t have to agree with me.
You do have to be curious.
STAY AWHILE.
Word & Weekdays has existed in one form or another for years, which means there is a lot hiding in here.
Some of it was written yesterday. Some of it started with a trip I took years ago. Some of it is being revisited as I rediscover old photographs, update old stories and realize just how much life has accumulated in this little corner of the internet.
So poke around.
Read something useful. Fall into a rabbit hole. Steal a dinner idea. Plan a trip. Try something I tried. Learn something weird. Come back when you need another tab open.
I’ll keep writing.
Come find me in the places where I’m usually writing, making, photographing, or going down a rabbit hole.
