Affordable All-Inclusive Resort in Cancun, Mexico:
Occidental Tucancun
In July, we booked a last-minute trip to Cancun, Mexico through CheapCaribbean.com. We stayed at Occidental Tucancun, which is an affordable all-inclusive resort in Cancun. Located right beside the luxury mall, we felt very safe and even walked to the mall several times to go to a grocery store located inside.
While the grounds, pools, and food were absolutely fabulous, I wouldn’t quite label this resort as a “luxury resort.” However, that is only because they did not include any US liquor brands in their “all-inclusive” program (only brands that are domestic to Mexico). The resort has a bit of a local feel, which we did actually enjoy. It’s a great option for an affordable all-inclusive resort in Cancun.
General Review and Info:
Our room was spacious and clean, including a balcony with a beautiful ocean view. A minibar in the room with sodas and juice is included in the all-inclusive rate. Towels are provided for free; you just have to trade in a “towel card” that they give you during check-in for your towels each day. This is to limit the excessive amount of towels that are used each day in order to make the resort more economically efficient.
Wi-fi is only free in the lobby area. However, you can purchase internet for the day, 3-days, 5-days, or for the week at a relatively affordable price. You already know I paid for it, and it was absolutely worth it in my opinion. And before you totally write off this resort just because of that, consider that we only paid $900 per person for the entire four-night vacation (including flight, hotel, and all-inclusive) because we booked through Cheap Caribbean.
Trip Background:
We actually planned this trip as a collaboration between Wine and Weekends and Southern Sun. Southern Sun is a local spray-tan and make-up company. Jessie (owner) is a friend and just a fabulous person to be around.
She actually has plans of opening an online boutique sometime in the next year, so be on the lookout for that. But most importantly, her tans are THE BEST. I feel instantly more confident after she sprays me, and I could not recommend her more!
Dining Experiences:
I reached out to Occidental Tucancun at arrival and introduced myself and told them about my job. They treated us to a fabulous private dinner, located on their brand new dining terrace when I told them I would be writing about my stay.
I am extremely picky when it comes to resort food, and I was highly impressed with the food at Occidental Tucancun (especially considering how affordable the stay was). Here are some shots for our dinner:
Conclusions:
Would I recommend Occidental Tucancun? Yes! For those who want a good, affordable all-inclusive resort in Cancun, I would highly recommend this resort. It’s great for groups or families, as it’s much less of a honeymoon vibe than many other resorts that I have visited in the past. You can read all of my past Caribbean experience here.
I hope everyone is having a great end to their summer. I literally can’t believe that the end is already upon us. I’ll be continuing my Small Town Travel Series throughout the Fall. You can stay up-to-date on this project by following me on Instagram and/or Facebook!
Until next time,
