I was invited to attend and showcase Gordonsville’s Famous Fried Chicken Festival last weekend, and boy was it an experience! I’ve never seen so many lines of people waiting to get their hands on freshly-cooked fried chicken… and it was worth the wait!
On this trip, I simply went up for the day in order to experience the festival. However, Gordonsville, VA is an adorable town located just above Charlottesville. It is home to a growing variety of craft breweries and wineries. I will be going back to Gordonsville in October to experience the town as a whole.
Gordonsville’s Famous Fried Chicken Festival offered a large array of freshly-fried chicken and sides, a huge variety of vendors selling products and hand-made items, and best of all was the wine and beer tasting garden. When we attended, it was an extremely hot day; so much so that local churches actually had tents just to give out free water, so that was a very nice touch as well!
Before the festival began, we participate in their annual 5K that is associated with the festival. If I’m being honest, we didn’t truly “compete” in this event… we just enjoyed walking the course and seeing different parts of the town.
Overall, it was a very enjoyable experience! Gordonsville’s Famous Fried Chicken Festival is definitely a family-friendly event and I recommend giving it a try next summer.
As far as an update on my life, I am officially working for myself now. I have taken the leap to run Wine and Weekends full-time and I couldn’t be more thrilled to go on this adventure with you! THANK YOU for your support, it quite literally is everything to me.
**Thank you to The Town of Gordonsville for sponsoring the post**
