Inn on the Beach
The Best Place to Stay in St. Pete Beach
This year, we spent my mom’s birthday weekend at Inn on the Beach, which is an adorable small hotel located in the “Pass-A-Grille” area of St. Pete Beach on the gulf coast of Florida. St. Pete Beach has been named one of the best beaches in the US, and now I know why!
Shelia, the general manager, has cultivated an excellent vibe at Inn on the Beach. She, and the rest of the staff at Inn on the Beach, are ready and willing to make your next vacation the best one yet. Inn on the Beach is definitely The best place to stay in St. Pete Beach, and I highly recommend it for your next Spring or Summer getaway!
Location
Pass-A-Grille is a smaller community within the area that is considered St. Pete Beach, and it has everything that a true beach lover could ever dream of. The area has an inviting and walkable local beach vibe with gorgeous Caribbean-like waters.
However, if you are looking for a bit more to do in the evenings, Pass-A-Grille is just a few miles away from a more populous beach scene in northern St. Pete Beach. And for those who enjoy going into the heart of the city, downtown St. Petersburg is only a 15 minute Uber or drive away.
Rooms
We stayed in the “Sunset” room, which has an extremely spacious balcony and bursts of bright and beachy feels. The room has plenty of room and offers guests a small kitchen, sitting area, king-sized bed, and stand-up shower. In addition, Inn on the Beach continues to prove that it is the best place to stay in St. Pete Beach by providing incredible amenities such as:
- Great Soaps and Shampoos
- Robes
- Beach Towels
- Coolers and Ice
- Beach Chairs
- Umbrellas
- Bikes
- Coffee and Breakfast
It is so nice to fly into a gorgeous beach town and not have to haul up all of those heavy beach necessities!
Breakfast
On week days, Inn on the Beach offers coffee and a grab-and-go style breakfast. While on weekends, they offer a continental style breakfast of bagels, scones, and fruits. Enjoying their outstanding coffee with the gorgeous views of the emerald water was one of my favorite parts of our stay!
The Beach and Things to Do
Inn on the Beach truly has an unbeatable location. In addition to being ocean front, the Inn is just steps away from Pass-A-Grille’s best dining and activities. Read more about things to do in the area and where to eat in my next blog (which I will eventually link to here). A few of our favorite places were Grace Restaurant, Paradise Grill, and Hurricanes Rooftop Bar.
The ocean is extremely calm and clear throughout the areas of St. Pete Beach. I have been to six Caribbean islands so far, and the ocean that Inn on the Beach has to offer is extremely comparable to many of the islands that I visited.
When to Visit
As for weather and peak travel times: February – May is the most popular tourism period, due to more comfortable temperatures and popular events. However, prices are also at their peak during this period. Traveling in June – August might save you a little money, just be prepared for extremely high temperatures!
Though amongst all the great things about the area, I have to admit that our timing was slightly unfortunate. September is already the lowest tourism month for the area, but “Red Tide” began effecting the beach on our second day there. This is a naturally occurring problem; however, this year it apparently hit the gulf coast of Florida a bit more than normal. We still loved our time in the St. Pete Beach area and I still highly recommend it for beach lovers! Just note that if you do plan on visiting, I recommend doing so between February and July. Read more about Red Tide here.
Conclusions + What’s Next?
I came home and told James that I thought that Inn on the Beach and the St. Pete Beach area would make a much better “family vacation” destination than local destinations near us, such as Myrtle Beach. The St. Pete Beach area is so much more versatile, and we are big fans of the “local feel” that Inn on the Beach specializes in. All of this is why I believe that Inn on the Beach is the best place to stay in St. Pete Beach!
As previously mentioned, I will be completing several other blog posts that will take this trip into more detail. Once they are completed, I will link them into this post to make it all more user friendly.
